Building the RV-10

The last time I documented my RV-7A build I spent way too much time doing so. This time it’s just a log, plain and simple. Some pictures and some comments.

Completed the VS minus the fiberglass tip. Began work on the rudder and made significant progress. Just need to dimple, prime and rivet it together.

Waited to complete this until the mini scotch brite wheels arrive to debur some of the parts. Finished riveting it together per the plans. Will dimple the skin tomorrow and complete the VS. Notice the picture of the pneumatic squeezer, it’s again my favorite tool. The other tools are leftover from the last build but I got rid of the cheepo bandsaw I had in favor of a new cheepo bandsaw.

Set the first rivets. Feels good to use the squeezer again. Decided long ago that the whole alumiprep, alodine, azko primer was a complete waste of time. This time priming comes in the form of an acetone wipe and Duplicolor self etch primer - military green.

Got all the parts sorted and began on the vertical stabilizer. Am still waiting for some scotch brite wheels to finish deburring the lightening holes.

New builder number assigned and the emp kit was started. Uncrated the parts and made several trips in the truck getting the stuff to the airport. I’m gonna like building at the airport.
